An American in Paris

Good morning America! It´s 8:45 here, and I´ve just had breakfast. The hostel that I´m staying at has generously provided a small baguette and jam. The bread is good, Yesterday, I explored Paris. Thoroughly. Getting lost four times will do that to you. Thank goodness I can speak French and had a map. One of the things I´ve noticed about Paris is the number of streets, and almost complete lack of structure (hence four times. Though if you don´t care how fast you get to where you are, are you really lost?). My exploration yielded some interesting results:

1) French people can be nice and very helpful. You just have to speak (or try to speak) French.
2) Most French people speak English pretty well.
3) Most streets are bordered on both sides by buildings three to five stories tall, making them feel rather narrow. But the buildings are artistic. Ironwork, fluted columns, arches, and other fancy-looking architectural things I can´t name, on everything, even apartment buildings.
4) You don´t have to look hard to find something interesting. I stumbled across an art gallery displaying art from medical students, and it wasn´t small. Museums/historical things are not hard to find. The hotel I will be staying at is about a five minute walk from the Luxembourg Gardens.
5) Jaywalking is not only ´acceptable´, everybody does it.
6) ´Mom and pop´ shops are everywhere.
7) French keyboards are way different.

I´ve decided I like Paris. :)

It´s warm here, about 70ish degrees, and pretty humid. But so far my trip has been enjoyable.
